Pregnancy ingredient checker.

Paste a product’s ingredient list to see which ingredients are usually avoided in pregnancy, which need your doctor’s advice, and which are generally considered suitable.

This checker reads the label only. It cannot detect ingredients that are not listed, and it does not know the strength of each ingredient. Always confirm with your obstetrician or dermatologist, especially if you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding. Beta: under medical review.

Pregnancy skin, explained

What changes, and what helps

Melasma, the “mask of pregnancy”

Hormones make brown patches common in pregnancy. Daily tinted sunscreen is the safest, most useful step; azelaic acid is a common doctor-advised option. Read the melasma hub →

Pregnancy acne

Gentle cleansing and azelaic acid are often used. Your doctor may also advise benzoyl peroxide or a low-strength salicylic wash. Retinoids are avoided.

Breastfeeding

Many ingredients avoided in pregnancy are also used cautiously while breastfeeding. Never apply products to the nipple area unless your doctor advises it.
